The IFF OBA team, in cooperation with the representatives from Ministry of Water (MoW) and the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP), carried out a project verification visit to the Singida WSSA from 23.05.2022 to 25.05.2022
From 9th to 10th of April 2022, the IFF-OBA team carried out a project proposal field assessment at the Shinyanga Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (Shinyanga WSSA). The utility submitted a project proposal to the IFF Secretariat that included the procurement of cesspit exhauster truck and extension of waste stabilization ponds
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project field assessment from 05th to 07th April 2022. The team visited the existing Iwambi treatment plant, the proposed site for the construction of storage tank and Kadete river.
The IFF OBA Consultant conducted an Interim visit from 22nd – 23rd February 2022. The aim of the visit was to assess the documentation of financial expenditure, to clarify some inconsistencies. The team visited the ongoing construction works of raising main, clear water tank and clarifier at the Mowe treatment plant. The project is intended to increase the production capacity of 1000m3/day.
The IFF Consultant conducted an Interim visit from 09th – 11th February 2022. The aim of the visit was to assess the documentation of financial expenditure and to clarify some inconsistencies. The team inspected the two procured exhauster trucks and visited the Busoka wastewater treatment plant.
The IFF - OBA team carried out a project monitoring visit on the 26th January, 2022. The team visited the Namfuo/Liti (control room and the equipped borehole), Kititimo well field (boreholes, collector tank and booster station) and the 200m3 Somoku storage tank. The connection of customers was on progress during the visit, with approximately 140 new customers connected out of 250 as an output target. Approximately 3,000 people will benefit from this project. The team also had the opportunity to visit the Automated Water Kiosks (ATM) and two different Prepaid smart water meters.
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project field assessment from 22nd to 24th September, 2021. The team visited the existing boreholes, storage tanks and booster station at Mtawanya, Mangamba treatment plant, Mbuo source (boreholes), Hiari storage tank and Mchuchu source where the water blending will take place. The team also visited Chiko/Lilungu disposal site.
The IFF OBA team, in cooperation with the representative from Ministry of Water (MoW) and the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP), carried out a project verification visit to the Shinyanga WSSA from 13.09.2021 to 15.09.2021. The visit aimed at the verification of output targets which include (i) installation of 15km water supply distribution pipelines, (ii) connection of 500 Nr metered new customers and construction of 3Nr. water kiosks in different areas, (iii) replacement of at least 2,000 Nr. faulty water meters in the existing distribution area and (iv) a collection efficiency of at least 90% within the entire service area. To date, a total of 551Nr new customers have been connected, 3,192Nr faulty meters have been replaced and 6 Nr water kiosks were constructed and are now operational.
On 24th and 25th of June 2021, the IFF-OBA team organised a workshop on Loan Disbursements and Progress Reporting at the Morogoro Hotel in Morogoro region. A total of 29 participants from 14 different WSSAs, representatives from commercial banks, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Water were amongst the audience. The objectives of the workshop were to (i) brief utilities on Proper accounting and documentation of expenditure and regular progress reporting in IFF Projects (ii) to brief the utilities on the bank perspective about disbursement schedules. (iii)introduction of loan calculator and calculation of annual interest in financial model.

The IFF-OBA team carried out a project field assessment from 24th to 25th May 2021. The team visited the Lilambo intake, Lilambo storage tank (150m3), Ruhuwiko storage tank (135m3), 2 No. boreholes with pump houses. The tapping points for the connection of the new distribution pipes at Mkuzo, Ruhuwiko, Namanditi, Luwawasi and Ruvuma were also seen.
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project field assessment from 17th to 19th May 2021. The team visited the Machinjioni Booster station, Ihungo storage tank 500m3, Nyanga spring and Nyanga storage tank 45m3, Kahororo storage tank 90m3 and Bulbata storage tank. The team also saw the Bugashani construction of two storage tanks (i) Bugashani Concrete ground storage tank of 500m3 which has been financed by MoW and supervised by BUWASA and (ii) the 90m3 raised storage tank that has been financed by RUWASA (Rural Water Supply Agency).
