Mtwara Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed IFF Project “Improvement of Water Supply in Mtwara Municipality” The project envisaged the Improvement of Water supply in Mtwara Municipality through the construction of a distribution network in different Wards. As part of this project, Mtwara WSSA targeted to connect Provision of 1,608 Nr. postpaid meters for new customers in the new extension areas and replacement of 700Nr. (400 post-paid and 300 pre-paid) faulty water meters in the existing network so as to reduce commercial water losses. The utility achieved the following output targets as of May 2024;
• Total of 834 customers have been connected with water meters and receive reliable water supply.
• Replacement of 720 faulty water meters in the existing service areas
• Collection efficiency of 90.6% measured for the period of ten months.
• Total of 30.418 km of distribution network constructed.
• 2No.Horizontal multistage pump Q=250m3/hr and Q=200m3/hr at Mtawanya are operational and 2No Vertical surface pump with Q =60m3/hr, and Q= 50m3/hr at Mangamba were installed.
The Iringa Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed the IFF project “Extension of Water Distribution Network to Peri Urban areas within Iringa Municipality”. The project was implemented in the areas of Tosamaganga, Kalega, Ipamba, Lipuli, Mgera and Mseke. IRINGA WSSA achieved the following targets;
• Total of 1,012 customers have been connected with pre-paid water meters and receive reliable water supply as of November 2023
• Total of 84.972km of distribution network constructed as of November 2023
• 4No. water kiosks are constructed and operational.
• Collection efficiency in entire service area of 94% over a period of twelve months was confirmed.
Tanga Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed IFF Project “Tanga City Water Supply Improvement Project II” The project envisaged the rehabilitation and extension of the MOWE Water Treatment Plant so as to increase their production capacity by 12,000 m3/day and the construction of 12.4 km transmission main. As part of this project, Tanga WSSA targets to increase production capacity by at least 3,000m3/d to total average production of 32,850m3/d. The utility achieved the following output targets; as of July 2023;
• Completed Construction of 12.157 km pipeline and construction of the 1,000 m3 clear water reservoir
• The lamella plates and perforated pipes are replaced, 1Nr pulsator clarifier and 2Nr sand filters are constructed operational.
• Treatment capacity is increased by 3,000 m3/d to a total average production of 32,998.27 m3/d for five months.
• Collection efficiency of 92% for a period of eleven (11) months.
The Kahama Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed the IFF project “Procurement of Sewage Exhauster Trucks for Sanitary Purposes in Kahama Town”. The Kahama WSSA provided satisfactory evidence on adherence to Water Sector Development Programme, procurement, technical, financial management, environmental and social standards in line with WSDP regulations. The utility achieved the following output targets;
• Procurement of 2 Nr. new Sewerage Exhauster Trucks in accordance with set Government regulations.
• Regular service and maintenance of the 2 Nr. new Sewerage Exhauster Trucks, including the vacuum pump-sets to be adhered to, as specified in the maintenance schedule provided by the manufacturer / supplier. KUWASA ensures that both trucks contain a regularly updated vehicle log book that record all trips on daily basis.
• Total of 726 customer trips conducted by both trucks as of October 2022.
• Collection efficiency of 93.3% measured for the period of six months.
The Singida Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed IFF Project “Extension of Distribution Network and Water Supply Improvement works in Singida Town” The project was implemented in the areas of Somoku, Mnung’una, Somoku and Namfua. The utility achieved the following output targets;
• About 4.039km of water supply distribution network was installed according to the standard.
• Construction of storage tank and the NAMFUA borehole (SNG 103/2019) equipped and operational.
• A total of 320 customer connections in the new project areas as of September 2022
• An average collection efficiency of 91.93%, without arrears and over a period of six months was confirmed.
The Morogoro Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed the IFF Project “Improvement of Water Supply Services within Morogoro Municipality” The project was implemented in the areas of BIGWA and BOMELA. MOROGORO WSSA achieved the following targets;
• Construction of two intakes at BIGWA and BOMELA within 12months after signing of grant agreement
• A Total of 752 customers have been connected and receive reliable water supply as of September 2022.
• Total of 35.9 km of distribution network, 90m3 storage tank and two (2) sedimentation tanks were constructed.
• Collection efficiency in entire service area of 93.94% over a period of seven months was confirmed.
The Songea Water Supply and Sanitation Authority completed the Extension of Water Distribution Network project in parts of Songea Municipal. The project was implemented in the areas of Mshangano, Miembeni, Gassa ATT, Mkuzo Stand and Lizaboni (Police street). SONGEA WSSA achieved the following targets:
• A total of 522 New customers have been connected and receive reliable water supply as of October 2020.
• Collection efficiency of 91.27% over a period of six months.
• About 35 km of water supply distribution network was installed as of October 2020
• Replacement of 466 faulty water meters in the existing distribution areas
The Moshi Urban Water and Sanitation Authority implemented the Mang’ana Spring Source Water Supply Project that aimed at improving the Water Supply and sanitation in their existing network and serve new areas such as URU North, URU South and other parts of Moshi Manicipality. A total of 1,870 customers have been connected and receive reliable Water Supply as of January 2019. The project comprises four main components:
• Construction of intake at Mang’ana source and gravity main at a length of at least 1KM
• Construction of transmission main to uncovered areas of Moshi Rural by at least 8KM and distribution branch lines of at least 7KM.
• Additional billing of not less than 1,000 new customers in the proposed new supply areas.
• Collection efficiency of not less than 90% within the entire service area of MUWSA.

The Tabora Water Supply and Sanitation Authority implemented the Water Supply Network Extension Works Project that aimed at improving water supply servicec in Tabora Municipality. Through the implementation of this project, a total of 1,075 customers were connected to the water supply network by October 2018. TUWASA will connect additional 925 customers within the project area in 2019, increasing the total number of beneficiaries to approximately 20,000. Apart from that, three water kiosks were constructed in selected low income areas and have been in operation since October 2018. A total of 30 km of transmission and distribution network has been laid as part of this project.
The project has been implemented in villages of Mhungula and part of Mtakuja which are located in the Ward of Mhungula in Kahama urban. The water derives from the Kahama-Shinyanga Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KASHAWASA), whereby KUWASA purchases bulk water produced from Lake Victoria and transmitted to Kahama town at a distance of 117Km. It is stored in a large reserve tank located at Shunu with a capacity of 18,000 m3.
The project has increase the number of customers from 10,646 to 11,206 which resulted in an increased coverage of 5.3%. The project implementation covered three phases:
