The IFF OBA team, in cooperation with the representative from Ministry of Water (MoW) and the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP), carried out a project verification visit to the Shinyanga WSSA from 13.09.2021 to 15.09.2021. The visit aimed at the verification of output targets which include (i) installation of 15km water supply distribution pipelines, (ii) connection of 500 Nr metered new customers and construction of 3Nr. water kiosks in different areas, (iii) replacement of at least 2,000 Nr. faulty water meters in the existing distribution area and (iv) a collection efficiency of at least 90% within the entire service area. To date, a total of 551Nr new customers have been connected, 3,192Nr faulty meters have been replaced and 6 Nr water kiosks were constructed and are now operational.

Based on the findings of the visit and Shinyanga WSSA’s final completion report, the Consultant will compile a comprehensive verification report that will be presented to the IFF Steering Committee for approval. The report will outline the eligible project expenditure that will determine the actual amount of the IFF Grant that shall be disbursed to Shinyanga WSSA’s commercial bank account.
