On 19.05.2017, the IFF – OBA Steering Committee approved the Grant disbursement for the Tanga City Water Supply Improvement Project that has been implemented by Tanga UWASA. The utility has achieved all Output Targest and qualifies for an IFF – OBA grant of TSH 1,230,376,415.
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project proposal field assessment in Moshi from 23rd to 24th May 2017. The assessment included visits to the project area, specifically to the Mang’ana intake in the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and to the locations of the proposed storage tanks. Meetings were conducted with Village Government leaders of Uru North and South and Newland / Mvuleni to assess the resident’s level of support and willingness to pay for this water supply project.

The team visited the proposed project areas in Eden, Katuma as well as 3 out of 19 existing and new boreholes which were constructed in the context of the Seven Towns Urban Upgrading Programme.
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project proposal field assessment in Dodoma from 04/04/2017 to 05/04/2017. The assessment included visits to the existing water supply infrastructures, specifically the Imagi water storage tank (7000m3) and Kilimani No.3 water storage tank (36,000m3). The team also visited the proposed project areas in Chidachi, Ndachi and Mlimwa C.
The IFF-OBA team carried out project proposal field assessment in Singida from 01/04/2017 to 03/04/2017. The assessment included visits to the existing water supply infrastructures that shall be rehabilitated, specifically the borehole, pump house and storage tank (100 m3) at Kititimo area. Also two boreholes at Kisaki Irao area which will be equipped with new pumps were seen. Those boreholes have a production capacity of 105m3/hr.
The IFF-OBA team carried out project proposal field assessment in Tabora from 31/03/2017 to 01/04/2017. The assessment included visits to the existing water supply infrastructures specifically Igombe dam, water intake structure, treatment plant, clear water tanks and booster pump station. Also the team visited proposed project areas in Kidatu and Usule bock “C” where the project construction works have started.
The IFF-OBA team carried out a project proposal field assessment in Songea from 26/09/2017 to 28/09/2017. The assessment included visits to the existing water supply infrastructures, specifically water intake structure at Ruvuma river, section of gravity main, Matogoro water treatment plant, Luhira Impounding weir & booster pump station, Chandamali 1 & 2 water storage tanks.
