Improvement of Water Supply Services Within Mbeya City

Mbeya Water Supply and Sanitation Authority is implementing IFF Project “Improvement of Water Supply Services Within Mbeya City”. The project involves the following output targets;
•    Installation of water supply distribution pipelines of at least 18.5km laid within the 3 Nr project areas and construction of storage tanks 500 m3 for Halinji Water Project, rehabilitation of 2Nr gravity mains and 2Nr storage tanks (90m3 and 45m3) at Mto Simba within 12 months after signing of grant agreement
•    Construction of 2Nr intake sources (1Nr new for Halinji Water Project and 1Nr
rehabilitation for Simba Water Project), construction of Shongo water treatment plant and rehabilitation of Iziwa water treatment plant within 12 months after signing of grant agreement
•    Supply and install 10Nr dosing pumps (at Iyela, Swaya, Imeta, Mwatezi, Iduda) and 6 Nr production pumps (2Nr centrifugal horizontal pumps with capacity of 295 m3/hour at Nzovwe and 4Nr centrifugal horizontal pumps with capacity of 290 m3/hour at Nelotia and Kadege incl. mortar starters and variable frequency drives)
•    Connection of at least 1,881 Nr prepaid customers within the proposed areas and replacement of at least 1,080 faulty water meters in the existing service areas within 12 months after signing of grant agreement
•    Maintain overall Collection Efficiency of not less than 90% within the entire service area of Mbeya WSSA.
