WORKSHOP MWANZA- CASH FLOW PROJECTIONS AND PROJECT PROPOSALS (GO WITH THE FLOW!)

25. Mar 2024

The IFF-OBA team in collaboration with National Water Fund and ATAWAS organised the workshop “Go with the flow! Cash flow projections and project proposals” from 05.03.2024 to 07.03.2024 at the Maji House in Mwanza region. A total of 50 participants from 13 different WSSAs, representatives from commercial banks, EWURA, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Water were amongst the audience.

The objectives of the workshop were for water utilities to

  • be able to project their cash flows by applying the analysis tool developed under IFF OBA
  • develop personal skills to make informed decisions based on their cash flow analysis;
  • receive feedback and clarification from sector stakeholders (banks, NWF, MoW, EWURA, MoF) for their cash flow projections and project proposals.

The workshop yielded the following results

  • Participants were introduced to the financial modelling tool through the input of case study data and their own water utility data.
  • Utility stakeholders can make informed decisions based on the outcomes of the financial modelling tool, including net cash flow, accumulated cash flow, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Participants received personalized feedback from both trainers and stakeholders on enhancing their cash flow modelling, project planning, and Bill of Quantities (BoQ).
  • Participants gained insight into the essential requirements for project proposals and outlined actionable steps to enhance cash flow modelling, BoQ preparation, and the creation of bankable project proposals within their respective utilities.

The workshop evaluation asserted that the participants are confident in applying the training content, overall satisfied with the course and received valuable feedback from trainers and stakeholders
