TABORA UWASA- ASSESSMENT VISIT

The IFF-OBA team carried out a project field assessment from 9th to 11th of October 2019. The Tabora utility submitted the proposal for the sewerage network extension and purchase of two cesspit emptier trucks. The team visited the waste water disposal and stabilisation ponds, the existing sewage network connection points and the proposed areas for sewage network extension in Boma, Mabatini and Kiloleni. During the visit different septic tanks and soak away pits were seen. In addition, the team conducted interviews with private and public cesspit operators within the Municipality.


Meetings with Village Government leaders of Boma and Kiloleni were also held to assess the prevailing situation and resident’s willingness to pay for the proposed services. The leaders confirmed that there are currently more than 400 customers who shall be connected to the central sewer that channels sewage to the stabilization ponds by gravity. So far, TUWASA has received about 200 applications.
